President’s Welcome Message
The 2020 Rocky Mountain Urological Society annual meeting was delayed from April, but able to be presented in August of last year. Despite numerous challenges created by the Covid 19 epidemic, the meeting was a tremendous success. It was amongst the first hybrid meetings where both in person as well as virtual speakers presented. I was extremely proud of the fantastic job performed by the various speakers and our staff. As a result, we were able to create a high quality event, which provided tremendous education for all involved.
Our 2021 Rocky Mountain Urological Society meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10. We will maintain our new tradition of utilizing the DoubleTree by Hilton in Denver to provide us ample meeting space for our speakers, poster presentations, and vendor exhibits. At this time our intent is to present an in-person meeting; however, given the vagaries of the pandemic this may become a hybrid meeting. Either format will allow us to present another exceptional experience.
We are fortunate to have two fantastic national and world renown speakers for this year’s meeting. Dr. John Mulhall Is the director of the male sexual and reproductive medicine program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. He specializes in sexual and reproductive medicine. Dr. Mulhall is an associate editor for the Journal of Sexual Medicine. In addition, he has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and texts regarding men's health and sexual dysfunction. He has particular interest in sexual rehabilitation following pelvic surgery.
Dr. Samir Taneja is a professor of urologic oncology at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine. He is the genito-urologic program leader at the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Center. He specializes in the evaluation and management of prostate cancer. He has published hundreds of articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Taneja and his colleagues have transformed the field of prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment by improving methods of prostate imaging, cancer detection, and disease localization.
In addition to these world experts we have numerous local experts presenting lectures regarding chemotherapeutic treatments for prostate cancer, various indications and modalities of radiation treatments for prostate cancer, and tips and tricks to improve robotic prostatectomy. Our men's health section will include lectures on sexual function for the prostate cancer patient, management of testicular pain, and a lively panel discussion regarding common men's health issues.
I encourage all of our members to register for this exciting meeting as soon as possible. I look forward to continuing our tradition of exceptional urologic meetings with the highest quality lectures.
