President’s Welcome Message

Dear colleagues,

Sean Patrick Manion, MDWelcome to the new Rocky Mountain Urological Society website. We are extremely excited to add this service to our members. We believe that this website will offer the ability to seamlessly sign up for the spring meeting, as well as pay dues, follow fellow members, and receive information on upcoming activities. In addition, we will provide a wealth of information regarding important issues occurring within the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society region. This site will allow us to provide further services to all of our members. We plan on including information from past meetings, as well as future ones, including slide presentations and summaries of our various guest speakers’ lectures.

We are extremely excited about the upcoming 2020 spring meeting. Since moving to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Denver we have been able to expand our meeting substantially. This is evident by the high-quality presentations of our guest speakers, as well as local experts, and the increasing attendance of our members. I would like to thank all of the members of the board of the Rocky Mountain Urological Society, particularly our past presidents, for establishing such a great tradition of quality and excellence.

Our next meeting will be April 3 – 4, 2020. We are proud to announce our guest speakers will be Dr. Sandip Vasavada and Dr. Jose Karam. Dr. Vasavada is a leading expert in female pelvic surgery and reconstruction. He joins us from the Cleveland Clinic Glickman Urologic Institute where he serves as the Director for the Center for Female Urology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Dr Vasavada and his colleagues represent one of the largest centers for female urology and reconstructive genitourinary surgery in the country. Dr. Vasavada has published numerous manuscripts and book chapters in the area of voiding dysfunction and urinary incontinence. Dr. Karam joins us from MD Anderson Cancer Center where he is Associate Professor in the Department of Urology. Dr. Karam is a leading expert in the management of kidney cancer. He is the author of numerous articles and texts regarding this subject. Dr. Karam is a respected reviewer of both the British Journal of Urology, as well as the Journal of Urology/American Urologic Association.

In addition to our distinguish guests, we have numerous local experts from across our multistate region participating in a series of lectures, poster presentations, and panel discussions.

I look forward to a robust, high-quality, extremely educational meeting and encourage all of our members to attend.

Sean Manion, MD
RMUS President 2019 – 2021
